Using Baking Soda

Because heartburn is caused by your gastric acid its boundary created by the stomach's sphincter. A suitable base will help neutralize the acid and bring the solution to a neutral state.

Meanwhile, make sure that using baking soda should be your last resort if you have frequent heartburns, reason being that, the base might upset the chemical balance in your system and pose some serious side effects if taken frequently. You can try out on other steps before going over to the use of baking soda.

Licorice

This should be your first resort and you should only try out on other methods if chewing gums doesn't work. Chewing gums stimulate the production of saliva and increase the flow rate for saliva. By so doing, any acid that has  accumulated from within will be washed away bring about a common relief.

Chewing of gum for 30 minutes will be okay.
